Rajdeep Dasgupta of Rice University has received the 2012 Hisashi Kuno Award from the American Geophysical Union (AGU). The award is given for outstanding contributions to the fields of Volcanology, Geochemistry or Petrology. Selection for the award is based on the quality of publications arising from work performed up to seven years past the receipt of the nominated scientist’s Ph.D.
Dasgupta is involved with the Deep Carbon Observatory in several capacities. He is the author of a chapter on “Ingassing, storage, and outgassing of terrestrial carbon through geologic time” in Carbon in Earth, a forthcoming DCO volume in Reviews in Mineralogy and Geochemistry. Dasgupta also spoke on the "Petrology of deep storage, ingassing, and outgassing of terrestrial carbon" at DCO’s Union Session at the 2010 American Geophysical Union Meeting.
You can read more about Dasgupta's work in the 6 August 2013 edition of Eos.
