Searching the DCO member directory

Applies to: Everyone (no DCO Portal login necessary)

  1. The best way to search for members of the greater DCO Science Network is to use the DCO People Browser.
  2. Use this link to go directly, or select "Directory" from the main navigation bar at the top of the page, or use the menus. The link is located under Data Portal  > People Browser.
  3. Filter the listings by using the interface in the left column. Search results can be refined by organization, DCO community, and research area, and country.
  4. If you're not sure of the exact name or institution of the person you're searching for, you may also enter only a portion of the user's first or last name or institution to retrieve results.

 

 

Searching for DCO publications

Applies to: Everyone (no DCO Portal login necessary)

  1. The best way to search the DCO bibliography to use the DCO Publication Browser.
  2. Use this link to go directly, or use the menus. The link is located under Data Portal > Publications Browser.
  3. Filters to the left of the listing can by used to narrow your search.
  4. If you're not sure of the exact title of a publication you may enter only a portion of the title.
  5. Clicking on a publication's DOI will open the resource in another tab in your browser.

 

 

Adding Featured Content

Applies to: Everyone (no DCO Portal login necessary)

Featured content is displayed on the front page of deepcarbon.net as well as on the News page.  The easiest way to submit content is through the Submit DCO Website Content Form. Please note that your submission will be published only after review by a content administrator, usually within one business day.

 

 

 

Adding an image

Applies to: All logged-in DCO Portal users

  1. Follow steps 1-3 outlined here. Refer to figures 1-3 above.
  2. From the "create content" menu, select Image.
  3. Provide information about the image: Title, Description, and terms under the Vocabularies tab
  4. If the image will be featured, make the appropriate target selections.
  5. Attach your Preview image. This will be shown on the site.
  6. Provide DCO-specific metadata under the DCO Metadata tab.
  7. Specify licensing using the Creative Commons License tab.
  8. Specific the Access Level for this image, and whether it should be featured on the portal.
  9. IMPORTANT: Upload a high-resolution version of the image under the File Attachments tab.

Downloading high-resolution images

Applies to: Everyone (no DCO Portal login necessary)

  1. If high-resolution copies of an image are available, you can download them by selecting one of the "high resolution" file attachments.

 

 

 

Adding an Event

Applies to: All logged-in DCO Portal users

The easiest way to to announce an event to the DCO community is to send your event information to the Engagement Team using this form. As a DCO Network member you also have the option to post your event directly to the events listing on deepcarbon.net by following the instructions below. Please note that your submission will only be published after review by a content administrator, usually within one business day.

  1. Log in to the DCO Community Portal.
  2. Go to https://deepcarbon.net//node/add/event
  3. Title: the event title must be no longer than 50 characters (including spaces)
  4. Date: start date and end date.
  5. Time: start time and end time (must be after 8:00 am to display the correct date.)
  6. Access Level: from the dropdown, select "Front Page Event" if you want your event to be displayed on the home page of the DCO portal. If you want it to display in a group, select the group's name.
  7. Location: city and country where event is located.
  8. Description: a short paragraph describing the event and attendance criteria, target audience, preregistration requirements, and registration fees, if any.
  9. Location: city and country where event is located.
  10. Venue: institution (if applicable), building name, and address. Links to event webpages and venue website. Be sure to include a name, telephone, and email for a contact person for this event.
  11. Image(s) and/or Video(s)*: For DCO-sponsored events, please provide an image to ensure the event can be promoted on the DCO homepage and in the DCO monthly newsletter, if appropriate. Images should be provided at the highest resolution possible, and at least one image is required to advertise an event on the DCO homepage or in the DCO monthly newsletter. The image can be a graphic related to the event, a photo related to the science topic associated with the event, or a photo of the venue. A caption and appropriate credit (name, institution, and year) is required for each image or video submitted.
  12. Remember to click "save."
