Dates: 27 September to 1 October, 2013
Location: Novosibirsk, Russia
The Deep Carbon Observatory, in addition to several other sponsors, will host a symposium titled "Deep Carbon Cycle: Mineralogy and Crystal Chemistry of Carbon-bearing Compounds". The meeting will be part of the International Conference on Crystallogenesis and Mineralogy.
The symposium will discuss carbon in magmatic and metamorphic processes; kimberlites, diamonds and their inclusions; and experimental modeling of the deep carbon cycle and carbon in the Earth's and planetary interiors.
The conference will provide a forum for the discussion of recent research and development activities in cyrstallogenesis and mineralogy. Subjects to be discussed include the formation of ideal and real crystal structures, methods of cystal growth, high-pressure research related to mineralogy and crystal genesis, and exraterrestrial mineralogy and crystallogenesis.
Additional information may be found at the conference website.
