Responsibilities: The successful candidate will play key roles in research and education activities of several projects related to semantic web, knowledge engineering, data wrangling, big data analytics, and reproducible workflows. Specific responsibilities include: development of knowledge bases in the field of geoscience, facilitating research collaboration on data science with researchers from in- and outside the University of Idaho, preparing peer-reviewed publications and education materials, participating in grant proposal preparation, and presentations at professional conferences. The postdoctoral research associate will work together with Prof. Xiaogang Ma, and is expected to develop and maintains expertise and skills through self‐direction and as part of a research team.

Qualifications: Applicants should have received a recent Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in computer science, Geoinformatics, GIS, geology, or a closely related field. Research experience in the areas of semantic web, knowledge engineering, and reproducible workflows (e.g. Jupyter Notebook) is desirable.
