Summary
This position is with the Smithsonian’s Global Volcanism Program (GVP), located in the Department of Mineral Sciences (DMS), at the National Museum of Natural History. The GVP is devoted to a better understanding of Earth's active volcanoes and their eruptions during the last 10,000 years. The mission of the GVP is to document, understand, and disseminate information about global volcanic activity through four core functions: reporting, archiving, research, and outreach.
Responsibilities
Gathers and synthesizes specialized technical data for entry into VOTW database.
Prepares text, figures, maps, charts, diagrams and tables for the Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network (BGVN), using graphics programs (such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat).
Writes the Bulletin of the Global Volcanism Network.
